Knight
of the queen. Honored by her as knight of Orange Nassau, brought to me by the
major of Landsmeer, my village, with the words “given in respect for your way
of living, your way of dwelling and what you give the community and your artist
greatness, giving the world a spirit old as the elements is a new view on the
life after the war”. Those words have for me a special meaning, because I
spent four years from 1941 to 1945 in the war in Berlin by the Russians and out
that comes the heavy side of my work and when you are war veteran is to get a
medal to be part of the house of Orange Nassau as knight means more as it means
to the after-war generations.I know deep in my heart what it means as the royal
queen honored you. It brings quietness in your soul.
Your life for the community is blessed.
